Dec 26, 2015 · Unfortunately OpenWRT does not update the DNS servers (see /tmp/resolv.conf.auto) after connecting to VPN and still uses the name servers given by DHCP server of wan interface. If DNS requests are not routed through the DNS servers of the VPN provider but of the ISP, the anonymity is simply compromised. Test the VPN by trying to ping the remote end-point of the VPN tunnel. If it's not working, increase the verbosity level in the configuration file, restart OpenVPN, and monitor the syslog to see why it might be failing to connect (use logread on OpenWrt, and monitor /var/log/messages on the linux router).
